In recent times, there has been a fiery battle of narratives unfolding between the remnants of Obaseki’s lackeys, represented by a certain Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, an erstwhile Commissioner and the Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy , Prince Kassim Afegbua, a media personality of no mean standing.
The clash centers on contrasting portrayals of governance under former Governor Godwin Obaseki and incumbent Governor Monday Okpebholo, gripping Edo State’s political circles.
Ifaluyi-Isibor recently launched sharp criticisms at Okpebholo’s administration, while vigorously defending Obaseki’s legacy. He questioned Ambrose Alli University (AAU)’s lack of evidence for the ₦500 million state subvention, alluded to a whooping N65billion financial investment in the Radisson Hotel project, and alleged Akoko Edo Local Government Area, a region pivotal to Okpebholo’s victory as neglected, contrasting with focus on Esan land development.
Prince Afegbua fiercely rebuutted and brushed Ifaluyi-Isibor’s claims aside describing them as fabrications, daring him to back up assertions. Afegbua stressed Okpebholo’s government has cleared 15 months’ salary arrears owed AAU lecturers and pointed to ongoing projects contradicting Isibor’s critique like Ekpoma’s road works.
He distanced himself from being a key Obaseki player, recalling he turned down a Commissioner role despite penning a New Telegraph column saying “Obaseki means business”. Obaseki didn’t act on those words, Afegbua noted.
Afegbua also slammed Obaseki’s crew for blocking ICT infrastructure handoff to successors and flagged ₦25 billion[not N65billion] Radisson Hotel deal without yeilding any tangible outcomes .He Blasts!
