The Edo State Government, under Governor Monday Okpebholo, has expressed readiness to reposition the housing sector of the State to ensure affordable housing for low-income earners, civil and public servants.
This was made known during a Press brirfing by the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Hon. Yakubu Musa (JP), during an inspection tour of the de-reserved 250-hectares at Ogba forest reserve in Ugogogin community in Oredo Local Government Area.
The site is situated near Evbuodia, Ulemon, Okua, and Umegbe communities. Partnership with the Ministry of Works is secured for road access and infrastructure development.
Also during the tour, the team visited Emotan Gardens, Phases 1 and 2, a housing project with 68 units on 69 hectares of land, where the Commissioner noted a vast underutilized land and stated that government will look into it, addressing concerns on property ownership and land management.
Hon. Musa further assured that government is prioritizing the development of the housing sector to meet Edo citizens’ needs, and will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure every citizen has a good life. He expressed confidence that the project would boost Edo’s housing sector and improve residents’ lives through relevant policies and programs.
