Edo State Government says it has entered into a strategic partnership with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to renovate and construct the Commission’s office in Benin.
Governor Godwin Obaseki stated this through his Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Paul Ohonbamu and reported in the Vanguard Newspaper page 26, Wednesday, April 29, 2020.
INEC’s POSITION:
INEC’s spokesman, Timidi Wariowei, said “INEC’s office in Benin is on lockdown. INEC is a federal agency and its headquarters in Abuja is capable of renovating the Benin office if it is in bad shape.
“We will not allow the Edo state government renovate INEC’s office, especially about five months to a crucial governorship election”.
Q:
Why will Edo state government be saying two different things at the same time concerning one particular issue?
Why is Governor Obaseki suddenly hell-bent on forcing himself on INEC?
Is it by force to renovate INEC’s office? Does Obaseki have any sinister plan?
Why the contradictions and lies surrounding this issue, which to me is aimed at hoodwinking Edo people?
